Summer Writer’s Craft Shop – The Importance of POV in Writing, taught by Julia Strayer

June 30, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Online

What is POV (Point of View) in writing and why is it so important?  Would your story be better told in 3rd person versus 1st person?  When and how is 2nd person used in creative writing?  Certain POV’s can limit the writer and truncate their narratives.  Julia Strayer will highlight the differences of POV to help you understand how to use it effectively in your writing. This class is #2 of a 4 part Writer’s Craft Shop Summer Series. Come ready to write; much of your time together includes in-class writing exercises and discussion.

REGISTER HERE for the Importance of POV in Writing class.  (register for each Wednesday Craft Shop separately)

The Summer Writer’s Craft Shop at New Canaan Library is a new series of fun and engaging seminars that offer writing experiences for those interested in trying their hand at the writer’s craft. During June and July, writing instructor Julia Strayer will teach four Wednesday evening craft shops on important writing elements necessary for story creation. In addition, author Elon Green, Last Call: The True Story of Love, Lust and Murder in Queer NY, and award winning poet, Shanna Melton, will hold two separate Saturday morning programs to fill out the writer’s repertoire of skills.  Writers of all levels are welcome, and participants may register for all, or a few.
