Teen Mindfulness with New Canaan Mounted Troop

December 12 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: New Canaan Mounted Troop

In this hands-on workshop, on-site at New Canaan Mounted Troop, we will be learning about horse behaviors as we lead and groom our horses in the indoor arena. How do we influence our horses? How do they influence each other? Explore the many ways that humans and horses connect and what they can tell us about ourselves in this fun, exploratory class! No horse experience is necessary.

For grades 5-8. Please register here.

All participants are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Masks are required for all unvaccinated participants.

This program is intended for tweens and teens in grades 5-8 only.

New Canaan Mounted Troop is located at 22 Carter Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.

This program is in partnership with New Canaan Mounted Troop and New Canaan Library.

About New Canaan Mounted Troop:

Founded in 1939, New Canaan Mounted Troop (NCMT) is a 501 (c) (3) youth development and therapeutic equestrian center located in New Canaan, CT. NCMT operates a comprehensive horsemanship program for youth ages 7-17 years (“Troopers”) and a therapeutic program (“Super Troopers”) for children and adults with disabilities. Overall, NCMT currently serves nearly 300 individuals.

The mission of NCMT is to build leadership, responsibility and confidence in youth through sound horsemanship and to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities.

In 2012, NCMT launched “Super Troopers” to offer equine assisted therapeutic programs to serve children and adults at risk with physical, emotional, intellectual and developmental disabilities using its donated horses and ADA compliant facility.
