Winter Tree Identification with Aaron Lefland
February 29, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join New Canaan Land Trust Executive Director, Aaron Lefland on a guided walk through Watson-Symington Preserve to identify winter trees.
While leaves provide the best clues about the identity of a tree, there are still many ways to identify leafless trees in the winter. Join the New Canaan Land Trust on a walk through their Watson-Symington Preserve, and learn to use clues such as branching pattern, bark texture, and bud formations to identify trees in the winter.
The guided walk will last approximately 1 hour.
Aaron Lefland holds a master’s degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science, and has spent most of his professional and academic life working and learning about the forests of New England.
