Storytelling is a powerful tool that can transform our perceptions and experiences, not only of those around us, but of ourselves. New Canaan Library wishes to celebrate women’s diverse accomplishments, inspire deep conversations and encourage purposeful action through storytelling. We want to create a place where women of different nationalities, generations, and professional backgrounds can connect and get inspired by authentic stories of triumphs and trials.

We invite you to join our Women’s Storytelling Workshop to learn how to shake off modesty and discover how telling the best stories of your life helps to clarify intention and purpose. Learning to tell your story will not only elevate your sense of self, but your sense of accomplishment in an increasingly competitive world. The skills you learn from this workshop will help you craft narratives for the workplace, engage with new audiences, and accentuate the positive.

At these workshops you will be guided through the process of choosing the story you want to tell; you will learn how to add captivating moments and purposeful dialogue to the story of your choosing; you will be coached through delivery techniques that encourage people to lean in to your stories; and finally, you will practice these techniques in order to prepare you for the big night March 7, when we will gather as a community to tell and listen to your stories.

Participates are expected to attend all four workshops: 10/18, 11/1, 11/15, 11/29. Registration limited.

Storyteller, Monica Peterson has entertained at the JFK Presidential Library, The Children’s Museum of the Arts in Manhattan, Connecticut DEEP Great Park Pursuit, Riverfront Music Revival, the Buttonwood Tree, Connecticut Storytelling Festival and at festivals, museums, libraries, schools, and senior centers throughout the area. Monica can be seen currently in “An Immigrant’s Story” with the theatrical troupe Themselves.

Monica Kershner-Peterson is the daughter of Eva Renzulli- Kershner, the granddaughter of both Plautilla Mazzabuffi-Renzulli and Molly Goldstein-Kershner.  She is the mother of Jessica Peterson. Monica introduces herself in this way to illustrate how the stories of who she is, as a woman, are the product of those who have come before her and are for the benefit those who will come after.  She is a transmitter of culture in its most immediate form – her family’s history, with its traditions, values, and lessons.
