
Writing Elements

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until October 30, 2018

This class is for anyone wanting to write fiction or non-fiction. Discussed will be important writing techniques/elements that help craft a compelling story or memoir such as: development of place, telling story through dialogue, types of conflict, narrative/character goals or wants, creation of tension, and overall atmosphere.
In-class writing exercises and discussion of stories of well-known authors will be included. There will be homework every week. This writing class is open to anyone, and any level, interested in the writing craft. Writing Elements, a class for the emerging writer will meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm, September 25 through to October 30.
Laura Woodward Cavers is the Reader’s Advisor at New Canaan Library. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Manhattanville College and has been teaching writing for three years at Darien Library as well as the facilitator for of the Darien Library Writer’s Workshop for six years.
