FamilySearch

FAMILYSEARCH

With access to billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land and court records from more than 130 countries, FamilySearch can help you discover and make family connections when researching genealogy. The service has over 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical genealogical records, and adds over 300 million free genealogical records and images online yearly from all over the world.

As an affiliate library with FamilySearch, New Canaan Library patrons have access to additional digital records not available outside a family history center while accessing the database on-site. These digital records include images and names indexes. Currently, there are about 400 million original records available in a digital format that affiliate libraries have access to.

  • To use FamilySearch, set up an individual account by creating a username and password (which you will need to remember) and providing all the required information.
  • Once you are signed in, you will be able to access all of the additional resources of FamilySearch’s genealogical resources while at the library.
