Museum of the City of New York

The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character. Founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation, the Museum connects the past, present, and future of New York City. The Museum holds approximately 750,000 items in its collection, ranging from prints and photographs, paintings and sculpture, furniture and decorative arts, manuscripts and ephemera, and so much more. You can explore nearly 190,000 items in the collection digitally, and soon more as the Museum’s digitization project continues.
