New Canaan Library Announces Annual Membership Meeting

New Canaan Library hereby gives notice that its Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the H. Pelham Curtis Gallery of the Library. Light refreshments will be served.

The Annual Membership Meeting offers a unique forum at which members can hear about the Library’s operations during the past year.  The Library’s By-Laws recognize members as those individuals who have made a contribution of time, money, or property to the Library during the preceding year.  The Annual Membership Meeting is also open to the public.

The meeting’s agenda will include remarks by Board President, Robert Butman, and Executive Director, Lisa Oldham. Harold Spitzfaden, Treasurer, will deliver a brief report on the Library’s preliminary financial results for FY2019. The members will also be asked to vote on the election of Trustees.

New Canaan Library is an IRC Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and operates as a public/private partnership with the Town of New Canaan. While the Library receives an annual grant from the Town towards its operating expenses, the Library relies on private donors for funds to maintain its building and grounds and to meet its remaining operating expenses for the development of programs, the expansion of collections and the institution of services.

New Canaan Library has been the community’s intellectual and cultural center for more than a century. Today, the Library continues as a vibrant community resource for learning and innovation, offering an extraordinary print and electronic collection, dynamic programming, and up to the minute technology and maker spaces. Every day, up to 1000 people come through the doors, and thousands of visits are made to the website in search of information, culture and entertainment.
