Altered Book Group

Altered book journaling is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a poetic and creative form. It’s a wonderful way to repurpose old books and have fun with paint, stamps, stencils, cuts, folds, watercolor resists, embroidery, blackout poetry, image transfers, and collages. Improv-abilities!

Tackle the world off the cuff! Come hone your skills with on the spot improv fun. Improvisation is the art of creating a theatrical scene with no anticipation, deliberation, or props. We'll learn acting techniques with free form exercises to deal with everyday situations. Pizza will be served! Wear comfortable clothing and bring your imaginary friend. Grades 5th - 12th. Advanced Cookie Decorating: Halloween

Young Adult Book Brunch: Six of Crows

Do you love to read?  Do you want to help plan library displays and programs? Come by and join our Teen Advisory Group for the New Canaan Library.  We meet monthly on Monday evenings to create dynamic displays, curate recommended books, and help plan young adult programs.  This month we will be installing a giant chessboard in the Teen Section! Teen Friendsgiving: Gravy 101

Let’s celebrate the season of gratitude by sharing a special Friendsgiving together.  Our chef librarian will teach you how to make a smooth and flavorful gravy from pan drippings so you can be the hero at your family’s holidays! Come learn the difference between a slurry, a roux, and a buerre manie.  Then we’ll sit down to enjoy the meal together. Please bring a donation for our local community food pantries to participate.
