Special Book Discussion for Grades 3-6: Sadako

Time: November 19, 2017 @ 2:00 pm – November 19, 2017 @ 3:00 pm

Join us for a reading, presentation, and discussion of the moving, true story of a young survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bomb, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, followed by origami crane folding and a snack.  Books will be provided; no prior reading is required.

The discussion will be led by an educator and participant in the Five College Center for East Asian Studies Japan Peace Tour, which took participants to Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Kyoto, where they visited museums dedicated to peace and peace education, met with Japanese teachers and students, and learned from scholars and others involved in peace efforts in Japan.
