Calling all tweens, teens, and adults! Join New Canaan’s Claire Ayoub (NCHS '07) for a free screening of her award-winning feature EMPIRE WAIST, a heartfelt comedy about teens learning to love their bodies through fashion design and friendship. Starring Rainn Wilson, Missi Pyle, Mia Kaplan, Jolene Purdy, and newcomer Jemima Yevu, the film has been lauded worldwide for its empowering message of self-love and the worthiness to follow our dreams exactly as we are—and for being just plain funny. Currently rated 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is excellent for ages 10+.
Following the film, Claire will answer audience questions and guide attendees through the Empire Waist Confidence Curriculum, a free and vetted educational resource to keep the conversation about body image and self-confidence going at home. Sponsored by P&G and Gillette Venus, these 7 videos and 15 downloadable activities include interviews with the cast and tools to process our own moments of self-doubt.
