Program Description

Event Details

Working with Silvermine Arts Center Teaching Artist Marta Kot, children will create and slip, seal, and score a mixed-media winter clay bowl. This program is designed for children with a range of special needs and their siblings. Please bring a sturdy container to transport the clay artwork home.

Silvermine Arts Center is excited to collaborate with New Canaan Library on this very special fine arts program. Having graced the Silvermine Arts Center campus for over 25 years, Teaching Artist Marta Kot will bring her coveted fine arts programs to the newly renovated Library art space. Kot’s programming will introduce new materials and techniques specifically designed to spark the imaginations of area youth. Infusing her projects with creativity, the young students will be exposed to new ideas and concepts that will build with each workshop.
Educated at Teachers College at Columbia University with a Master’s in Art & Art Education and a Master's in Environmental Art and Studio Art from NYU, Kot carries a resume that includes a Fulbright Exchange with the Royal University of Malta and Graduate Studio Art Studies in Venice, Italy, the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and the Sorbonne in Paris, France. Her further teaching experience has included being a NYC Annenberg Education Art Specialist and a Teaching Artist for Harlem School of the Arts.
