Program Description

Event Details

You're invited to the opening of the Spring/Summer 2024 exhibit, Torrance York’s Journey through Parkinson’s, in the Lightburn Gallery. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, April 10th from 5:30pm-7:00pm. All are welcome.

Parkinson’s disease is the world’s fastest-growing brain disorder, with over ten million people living with it worldwide. Following her diagnosis with Parkinson's, photographer Torrance York delved into her art to facilitate understanding of her new reality and fortify her optimism. This resulting body of work, published in the monograph Semaphore and on exhibition in the Lightburn Gallery during Spring/Summer 2024, is not only relevant to the Parkinson’s community, but to anyone interested in the relationship between creativity and healing.
