This workshop explores the properties of color, analyzing and determining the meaning of hue, chroma, and value. The first part of the workshop is a verbal presentation on color perception, what color is, and optical blending. The second part of the workshop is a hands-on exploration of color, utilizing historical paintings as a guide to experience “optical blending.” Using colored pencils and a cross hatching technique, colors begin to ‘mix’ and ‘blur’ when viewing the work from a distance. Class discussion is encouraged.
