Program Description

Event Details

Do you have unused bicycles taking up space in your home? Donate them and positively impact someone’s life. Northeast Community Cycles collects the donated bikes, refurbishes them and gives them to underprivileged children and adults in Fairfield County – with a free helmet. Your bicycles will change lives forever by increasing access to employment, education, health care and facilitate a healthier lifestyle.

New Canaan Police Community Impact Officer Nicole Vartuli will be at the event to educate the community on scooter and motorized bike safety. Learn about State of CT regulations and the rules of the road to prevent injury to motorized bikers, pedestrians and other motorists. Officer Vartuli reports an uptick in complaints about juveniles on e-bikes speeding, being reckless and nearly colliding with automobiles.

We accept children’s and adult bicycles (including balance bikes) in all sizes and in gently used condition. The bikes can have flat tires, no brakes or need gear adjustments.

Please do not donate bicycles that are rusty. We cannot accept scooters, plastic toddler bikes, or skateboards – only bicycles.

Bicycles can only be accepted in the outdoor drop off located in the front of the library on Maple Street between 11am-3pm. The Library cannot accept donations prior to or after the event.

Your donation is tax deductible. Forms will be available for your records.
