Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) representatives provide an introductory explanation of what the different components of our electric bills mean, and how PURA sets and regulates the rates charged by Connecticut's investor-owned utilities. Extended Q&A follows, to address specific questions and learn about our electric distribution system and market in greater detail.
PURA is a quasi-judicial agency that interprets and applies the statutes and regulations governing all aspects of Connecticut’s utility sector. Among its many responsibilities, PURA encourages public participation and provides education and outreach for consumers.
