Program Description

Event Details

Join Jessica Brierley, author of Sebastian the Speedy Sloth, for a special reading, then participate in a human sloth race and hands-on crafts! This program is ideal for children 3-8 years old and their families.

Sebastian dreams of being fast! Unfortunately for Sebastian...he is a sloth. Everyone tells him that sloths are slow, sleepy, and certainly not made for speed. Following his dream seems impossible, but he isn't ready to give up yet! Join Sebastian as he sets out to accomplish his goal of running a race. With grit, determination, and a little help from his personal trainer, Jett Jaguar, can Sebastian succeed?

Headshot of Jessica Brierley

Jessica Brierley is a former kindergarten and first-grade teacher. She loves fiction and children’s books. She has a BA in English literature from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and an MA in education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Jessica is a serial reader and spends much of her free time devouring novels and perusing bookstores. She enjoys writing fiction as well. It has always been a dream of hers to not only write a children’s book, but to publish one of her creations and have it land on a bookshelf for the world to read.  She’s very happy to realize this dream with her first published book, Sebastian the Speedy Sloth. Jessica grew up in Marin County, California, and now lives in Rye, New York, with her husband and three children.  They enjoy running around but they also enjoy a good sloth-like nap!
