Please join two-time cancer survivor, business leader, and healthcare disruptor Kathy Giusti, in conversation with journalist Lee Woodruff, as they discuss Ms. Giusti’s informative and inspirational new book, Fatal to Fearless: 12 Steps to Beating Cancer in a Broken Medical System. More than an involved member of the New Canaan community, Kathy Giusti’s contributions to the medical and business world have led her to be recognized as one of Time magazine's Most Influential People and Fortune Magazine’s World’s 50 Greatest Leaders. After overcoming a fatal cancer diagnosis nearly thirty years ago, Kathy founded the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), co-chaired the Harvard Business School (HBS) Kraft Precision Medicine Accelerator, and has worked with three U.S. presidents to fight and cure cancer.

Part memoir and part how-to, Fatal to Fearless tells the gripping story of how Giusti took on the system and turned it to her advantage. It is a crash course in surviving a difficult diagnosis, organized around twelve essential steps. Each step includes What To Dos (WTDs) built on years of hands-on experience, both as a patient with a front-row seat to the American healthcare system, and a business professional disrupting it from within. In writing the book, Giusti has drawn moving insights from the journals she kept over her years of cancer treatment, with resonant reflections on how disease impacts not only patients but their families. Her hard-fought wisdom ranges from how to access the best diagnostics and treatments, to recognizing your community of caregivers, to preventing disease in the first place. Accompanying each step is practical advice from experts Kathy has met along the way—top medical insiders on the frontlines of physical and emotional care.
