Program Description

Event Details

New Canaan Library is partnering with Inclusive Together to develop an exclusive Library Orientation for parents/caregivers and their children. This event is designed for those who appreciate a quieter, less crowded environment

Please register each individual who plans to attend, whether child or adult.

Here’s what you can expect:

1. Library Navigation: Learn how to find and check out books, making your use of our resources easy and stress-free.

2. Special Activity Rooms: Explore our dedicated rooms designed for focused and calm activities.

3. Inclusive and Sensory-Friendly Story Times: Learn about our inclusive story time sessions that accommodate a range of needs, as well as our soon-to-be-offered sensory-friendly story times for children who need a more controlled and less stimulating environment. Talk with our librarians about your child's needs, and let us know how we can support your family.

Parents and caregivers will have plenty of time to explore the Library with their children at their own pace. This is a great time to meet Miss Marie and Miss Rebecca (Manager and Assistant Manager of Family Services) and to discuss how we can best support your family during ongoing Library visits.

We aim to provide a supportive, safe environment for all visitors. To accommodate the needs for a less stimulating environment, space is limited. Registration is required. If you have specific needs or preferences, please let us know so we can assist you effectively.
