Program Description

Event Details

Children entering grades 3 through 6 in the fall of 2023 will join local award-winning authors, Caroline and Katherine Brickley, in learning how to make their very own picture book over the course of this 2-hour camp. Children will engage in lessons, learning activities, games, and more. By the end of the program, children will have completed a picture book to be added to a special spot in the library.

Registration for this event will be open from July 1, 2023 @ 8:00am

Instructor Background
Caroline and Katherine Brickley are twin sisters and award-winning local children’s book authors. Their most recent picture book, The Friendly Bookshelf, is about an adorable library bookshelf named Bibli and his journey to find a story about someone like him. In addition to writing inspiring picture books, Caroline and Katherine develop an assortment of enriching media and products based on their stories, from huggable plushies to learning games and catchy songs. With backgrounds in creative writing, education, and child psychology, the Brickley Sisters also enjoy working with children through learning programs and in-person events to help young storytellers discover their voices and share their own stories.

Youth Participation Guidelines

If your child is under 12 years old, an adult caregiver must remain in the Children’s Room for the duration of the program. If your child finishes a program early, or if a child becomes ill, distressed, or behaves in a manner that interferes with other participants’ enjoyment of the program, they may be released into the Children’s Room before the program’s end time. Please ensure that your child knows exactly where to find you at all times.
