Event Details

New Canaan Library is honored to welcome celebrated journalist and author Carl Bernstein for the 23rd Annual Richard Salant Lecture.

Famous for breaking the Watergate Scandal in 1972, his journalism for The Washington Post, and five critically acclaimed books, including All the President’s Men, Carl Bernstein has focused much of his career on American politics and the abuse of power. After winning the Pulitzer Prize for his early Watergate reporting, Bernstein has continued to bring truth and integrity to the American public in major news outlets that include ABC, CNN, and The Washington Post, among others.

The event will begin after the 6:30pm-7pm reception and will end at 8pm.

The Richard Salant Speaker Series is dedicated to encouraging news literacy and fostering a greater understanding of the responsibility of the news media in a free society. This program is intended to generate public interest in news and current affairs and the manner of its dissemination with a critical eye. The series perpetuates the principles of Richard Salant, a defender of the news media’s First Amendment rights, and their responsible and fair application.

New Canaan Library’s mission is to be an essential place for lifelong learning and a vibrant hub for knowledge, culture, and connection for everyone in our community. We do this by staying committed to three core values: lifelong learning, community, and inclusion.

Elm Street Books will be on-site selling books.
