Program Description

Event Details

Learn some helpful strategies from a parent and special educator, Lauren Tarzia, M.A. CCC-SLP.

Since many of us have annual reviews at the end of the school year, let's talk about how we prepare for the PPT meeting. Our Founder, Lauren Tarzia, has been to many PPTs over the years as an SLP in the public elementary & middle schools. Now, she is also a parent to children with special education supports and has been lucky enough to use her professional experience to help guide her organization and preparation for formal PPT meetings. Come learn some helpful strategies that get you organized for a meeting with your child’s team. Also, those meetings are emotionally and mentally draining on us as parents. Learn some strategies for managing emotions and feelings before, during and after a PPT meeting. How do you deal with those difficult conversations and decisions emotionally?

Please note that there is to be absolutely no discussion about any details of your child's IEP. That is a confidential document and a personal, individualized plan for your child and should not be shared with anyone.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that each group discussion is not limited to this one topic. You are always welcome to share anything. This is your time to share, to vent, or to celebrate an accomplishment.

NOTE: Out of respect for participants who may share sensitive information, please plan to arrive no later than 2:10 p.m. Doors will be closed at 2:10 p.m., then will reopen for 5 minutes during a break at 3 p.m. for anyone who wishes to join late. In order to accommodate varying schedules, we will also offer a Friday morning session, 10 a.m. May 17. Please register for the date that works best for you.
