Writing a memoir can be tricky, if not frustrating. Telling personal or familial truths can be emotional and prompts the “editor” in one’s head to intervene and upend the writing project.
This intensive, boot camp-style workshop aims to tame that editor, and to help writers work through the emotions to get their story down on paper. We will ask the question "Why write this memoir?" With that answer we’ll look at each person’s narration, point of view, family secret reveals (if any) and past & present timelines. The final class will be a reading of each other's work and follow up suggestions.
Those who wish to submit their finished piece will be included in an anthology that will be published and shared to the entire class. Manuscript and publishing techniques will be taught.
Register here to attend five consecutive Tuesday evening classes: June 20, June 27, July 11, July 18, & July 25, from 6:30 pm - 8 pm. This will give you a seat in all five classes.
