Ekphrastic writing is a vivid, often dramatic, verbal description of a selected work of art that evokes a happening, place or character that is either real or imagined by the writer. To do this project, participants will take a short field trip to the library's Lightburn Gallery on the first floor to be inspired by the current exhibition from the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. The end result will be a 500-words-or-less flash piece.
This is a unique class in that writers will be allowed to take the work home to polish for submission into an anthology.
In February, a wine & cheese reception, with writers, artists, friends and family, will celebrate the anthology and the intersection of writing and art.
Writers of all levels are welcome; enjoy an engaging and fun way to foster creative experimentation.
