Program Description

Event Details

Join New Canaan High School incoming seniors for a realistic drawing and creative writing summer camp! This camp will last for 2 hours every afternoon from Monday to Friday, and will focus on exploring nature. Students will learn specific techniques to draw different flowers, animals and landscapes, to name a few elements, as well as write original poetry, prose and short stories that correspond with their artwork. We will be using drawing pencils, colored pencils and oil pastels to create a portfolio that the students will take home. All materials will be provided, and a water bottle is recommended. Please plan to attend all five classes (July 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26) as lessons build on one another.

This program is intended for children entering grades 3-6 in Fall 2024.

*These classes are organized by incoming NCHS senior Amy Meng, who has extensive experience in drawing, illustration, and creative writing.

If your child finishes a program early, or if a child becomes ill, distressed, or behaves in a manner that interferes with other participants’ enjoyment of the program, they may be released into the Children’s Room before the program’s end time. Please ensure that your child knows exactly where to find you at all times.
