Program Description

Event Details

The library is pleased to offer a two-session workshop that comprehensively introduces the art of Modern Calligraphy geared toward calligraphy novices.

Modern Calligraphy combines traditional tools with updated techniques and fresh aesthetic sensibilities. It is a more free-form style of writing that has (almost!) no rules and allows for much more creative expression than traditional calligraphy. The instructor will introduce students to the basic techniques of pointed-pen calligraphy and guide them through a series of exercises to show them where to begin and how to improve their skills once they have mastered the basics.

This class will meet for 2 hours on Wednesday, September 4th, and 2 hours on Wednesday, September 11th. Please commit to attending both sessions for an optimal learning experience.

The library will provide all supplies.
