Join us for a six-session course that combines art history with hands-on creativity! This course focuses on still life and teaches both art history and painting techniques. Students will explore the lives and works of artists such as Cézanne, Braque, Magritte, and Lichtenstein.
Each week, we will use acrylic paints to create a still life inspired by the work of a selected artist, while also discussing the historical influences of their art. In the final two classes, we will set up an actual still life arrangement, and each student will have the opportunity to paint a still life in their own unique style.
About the Instructor: Nash Hyon, a contemporary American artist, studied painting in Italy and received her MFA from Vermont College in 1998. Hyon’s work has been shown in museum exhibitions including: Montclair Museum of Art, NJ; William Benton Museum of Art, CT; Knoxville Museum of Art, TN and the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC. She maintains a studio in Connecticut.
