Program Description

Event Details

There's a lot of thought that goes into city planning and our focus this week is the intersection of engineering and city planning. The infrastructure of our cities depend heavily on engineering.  We'll think about the systems we rely on every day to transport water and other fluids as well as people and goods. Our challenges this week will be a water system challenge where you will need to design piping to transport water and a bridge building challenge that transposes the water source.  We'll use MakerLab supplies and equipment to design a custom city skyline or cityscape.

Registration opens March 1 at 8am.

STEAM LAB runs in 5 week sessions, each week focusing on one letter from the acronym STEAM with a particular focus. Each week will feature three project tables relating to the theme: a quick project to introduce you to the topic, a technical challenge relating to the topic and an open-ended invitation to explore materials and the topic.  The projects are designed for students age 10-16.  Please register for each week you wish to attend.  You may come any time in the 4-5:30 window and stay as long as you are interested in the activities.
