Program Description

Event Details

Ekphrastic writing is a vivid, often dramatic, verbal description of a selected work of art that evokes a happening, place or character that is either real or imagined by the writer.  To do this project, participants will take a short field trip to the library's Lightburn Gallery on the first floor to be inspired by the current exhibition from the Creative Connections: My Story Revealed: The Art of Global Culture & Identity.

This is a unique class in that writers will be allowed to take the work home to polish for submission into an anthology created by the library and distributed to participants and the public.  All genres: essay, memoir, short story and/or poetry are welcome to be submitted.

In February, a wine & cheese reception, with writers, artists, friends and family, and the Creative Connections organization and their guests will celebrate the anthology and the intersection of writing and art.

Writers of all levels are welcome to enjoy an engaging and fun way to foster creative experimentation.
