Program Description

Event Details

If the first draft of writing a story, novel or memoir is considered "laying out the bones," the second, third and fourth drafts attend to the muscle, the tendons and the soul.  In Writing Tips we will discuss the necessity to revise your work and the technical elements: cohesion, depth of character, POV and word integration, plus more that polish the narrative.

Hemingway said,  Don’t get discouraged because there’s a lot of mechanical work to writing. There is, and you can’t get out of it. I rewrote A Farewell to Arms at least fifty times. You’ve got to work it over."

Laura Woodward Cavers instructs the class and has ten years experience teaching writing at Darien and New Canaan Libraries.  She holds an MFA in Creative Writing.
